Buying Poetry

The last poetry-related journal entry I posted was about getting rid of a collection of books, and coming to terms with the ramifications of that now, decades later. One of the points was that I find myself here today, a poet with few books of poetry at hand. If you want to know a bitContinue reading “Buying Poetry”

2 years on and the threat from within is just as real. That day i can clearly remember the phrase A Failure of Imagination over and over and over again as people struggled to make sense of what was plainly clear. A nod to both Vonnegut and Dylan, and Adam Neely is due here. Please read it, read it aloud, read it stoned, read it to strangers, read it on the bus. Sing the refrain, Why? Why, why, why? Why, why, why? to the tune of Blowin in the Wind.
5th day of the year, 4th day of mainly laying in bed. The first day I listened to Coltrane's A Love Supreme about a dozen times in a row, thinking of a deceased friend and writing. Wasn't a bad day.
2022 marked a huge change in my life, puncuated in the autumn by attending my grandfather's death, a complicated but positive experience.
I've been largely silent, but super busy since returning to Seattle. In addition to writing about my grandfather's passing, I've started laying out my next 2 books of poems, NINJA WILL EAT ME, and LOVES & LONGS.
I went home, ostensibly to see my grandfather for the last time, and i ended up seeing much of my family for the first time, in a way.
Happiness is a warm gun
