Hi, I’m Chris Bevens, I’m a poet living in Seattle, WA amongst cats and corvids. I make little chapbooks of poems and songs, and leave them among the Little Free Libraries of Seattle, and sometimes upon the windowsills of coffee shops. I earned an MFA in Creative Writing & Poetics from the Naropa Institute, and I’ve been most recently published in Ambrosia Zine, Beyond Queer Words, Suburban Witchcraft Magazine, and Cathexis Northwest Press.

I write dark stories and anecdotes, dystopian fiction, and blog posts about growing up a closeted queer in a small conservative town, and coming out later in life. Through journaling and poetry I’ve finally realized why I’ve always been so concerned with the things that grow in the cracks, and with using tools in ways they weren’t intended. I think it’s why I’m a poet, and lately my poetry seems to be centered upon cats, gun violence (not at the same time. Cats can’t use guns. No thumbs.) and the absurdity of fascism.
